Wild Buffalo Ranch is located within the montane subregion of the Rocky Mountain Natural Region. The topography is gently rolling terrain with south facing slopes and is characterized by open grasslands interspersed with shrub, aspen and conifer tree forests. The ranch is bounded by the Ghost River on the north west side and much of Jamison Creek flows through it. It contains several wetlands and is part of an important and heathy watershed for the Ghost Reservoir, and provides habitat for many species of birds and other wildlife.
